Always use spawn from certified, disease-free sources. Environmental control is crucial; maintain lower humidity levels and ensure good air circulation to discourage fungal growth. Avoid over-watering and waterlogging the compost, as excess moisture creates ideal conditions for the pathogen. If detected early, carefully remove and destroy infected mushrooms and the surrounding substrate to prevent spore dispersal. In some cases, registered fungicides containing substances like prochloraz manganese can be applied as a preventative measure, but always follow label instructions.
