Recently, our ODM team completed what may be our most forward-thinking outdoor furniture project to date: a fully modular, sustainable, and smart-integrated seating system designed for contemporary urban landscapes. The core innovation lies in its adaptive modularity. Each seat and table component connects via a patented interlocking system, allowing homeowners and commercial clients to reconfigure layouts seasonally or for different events—transforming from intimate lounge sets to expansive entertaining sections in minutes.
Beyond flexibility, the project prioritized sustainable engineering. We utilized a new composite material made from recycled marine plastics and reclaimed teak, offering exceptional weather resistance without the environmental footprint of traditional outdoor materials. The frames incorporate aluminum alloy with a ceramic coating that actively reduces surface temperatures by up to 15°F in direct sunlight.
The most distinctive feature is the integrated smart technology. Subtle, waterproof LED lighting is embedded within armrests and table edges, controllable via a dedicated app or voice command. More impressively, select modules include discreet wireless charging pads and low-voltage USB-C ports, powered by optional, aesthetically integrated solar panels within cantilevered shade umbrellas.
This project was developed in close partnership with a Scandinavian design studio, targeting the high-end residential and boutique hospitality markets. It solves a clear market need for outdoor furniture that is versatile for space-constrained environments, environmentally conscious, and seamlessly blends with the connected home ecosystem. The successful prototyping and client feedback have confirmed a strong demand for outdoor solutions that are not just durable, but intelligently adaptive to how people actually live and entertain outdoors today.
