When it comes to manufacturing high-quality outdoor benches, the choice of metal for the frame is critical to ensure durability, stability, and resistance to harsh weather conditions. At our outdoor bench factory, we primarily use two types of metal for bench frames: aluminum and galvanized steel. Each material is selected based on the specific requirements of the bench design, the intended environment, and the desired lifespan.
Aluminum is a popular choice due to its lightweight nature and natural resistance to corrosion. It does not rust, even in coastal or high-humidity areas, making it ideal for beachfront parks, gardens, and poolside settings. Our aluminum frames are typically made from extruded 6061 or 6063 grade aluminum alloys, which offer excellent strength-to-weight ratios and can easily be powder-coated for added color and UV protection. For instance, many of our modern-style benches feature tubular aluminum frames that resist dents and remain cool to the touch in direct sunlight.
Galvanized steel is another robust option we employ for benches that require maximum strength and load-bearing capacity. This steel is treated with a hot-dipped galvanization process, where a protective layer of zinc is bonded to the metal surface. This layer acts as a sacrificial barrier, preventing rust and corrosion even when the frame is scratched or exposed to rain and snow. Galvanized steel frames are commonly used in heavy-duty commercial benches, such as those in bus stops, stadiums, or public plazas, where frequent use and vandalism resistance are priorities. The steel gauge we use is typically 12 to 14 gauge for optimal balance between weight and toughness.
For specialized products, we also incorporate stainless steel in premium models, especially in marine environments or where aesthetic appeal is paramount. Stainless steel (grade 304 or 316) offers superior corrosion resistance and a polished finish that complements high-end architectural designs. However, due to higher cost, this is less common in standard production.
It is important to note that all metal frames from our factory undergo rigorous quality control, including salt spray testing to ensure they meet industry standards for outdoor use. In summary, the choice of metal—whether lightweight aluminum, rugged galvanized steel, or premium stainless steel—depends on the specific application, budget, and weather exposure. By selecting the right metal, we guarantee that each bench will provide comfortable seating for decades without structural degradation.
