1. Reclaimed Teak from Structural Demolition: Approximately 60% of our wood comes from old barns, bridges, and traditional houses in Indonesia and Myanmar that are being dismantled. This reclaimed teak has been air-dried and aged for decades, making it exceptionally stable and resistant to cracking. By using reclaimed wood, we prevent valuable timber from ending up in landfills and reduce the demand for freshly cut trees.

2. FSC-Certified Plantation Teak from Java: The remaining 40% is sourced from small-scale, government-monitored plantations in Central Java, Indonesia. These farmers follow rotational harvesting cycles that mimic natural forest growth. Each log is traceable back to its specific plot, and we require our suppliers to provide annual third-party audit reports confirming no deforestation, no illegal logging, and fair wages for workers.

3. Alternative Sustainable Hardwoods: For select models, we also use Black Locust wood from sustainably managed forests in Eastern Europe. Black Locust is naturally rot-resistant and requires no chemical treatments. Our supplier in Hungary follows a harvesting quota that has been in place since 1920, ensuring the species regenerates faster than it is cut.

We never use freshly harvested rainforest timber, mahogany, or any wood from protected UNESCO sites. Every shipment we receive includes a chain-of-custody certificate, and we conduct random on-site inspections of our lumber yards twice per year.

If you visit our factory, you will see our waste management system: wood offcuts are turned into compressed wood pellets for heating our facility, and sawdust is composted for local community gardens. The stainless steel and powder-coated aluminum components on our benches are 100% recyclable.
