The key lies in three core stages: wood selection, controlled drying, and advanced sealing. First, we exclusively source high-density hardwoods like teak, white oak, or ipe, which naturally contain dense grain structures that resist moisture absorption. Before any cutting begins, each plank is subjected to a gradual kiln-drying process. We slowly reduce the wood’s moisture content to a target of 8-10%, matching the average annual humidity of our target markets. This eliminates internal stresses that cause twisting and bowing. Next, every bench component undergoes a double-coat application of a micro-porous, UV-resistant sealant. Unlike standard paints, our sealant allows the wood to “breathe” and release trapped moisture, while repelling rainwater and harsh sunlight. Finally, our carpenters use a specialized finger-joint technique at stress points, and we pre-drill all fasteners with oversized holes to accommodate natural expansion and contraction. After assembly, each bench is stored in a climate-controlled warehouse for 72 hours to ensure the wood has fully stabilized. This entire process guarantees that our benches remain flat, tight, and structurally sound through freezing winters, humid summers, and everything in between.
