The minimum order quantity (MOQ) for a custom size from our planter box factory typically starts at 100 units per size and design. However, this number is not set in stone—it depends on several key factors that we consider to balance production efficiency with your specific needs.
First, design complexity plays a major role. A simple rectangular planter with a single color and standard drainage holes is easier to produce in small batches, so we may lower the MOQ to 50–80 units for such designs. For intricate shapes, multiple compartments, or custom logos/embossing, the MOQ usually rises to 150–200 units to justify tooling and setup costs.
Second, material and finish affect the threshold. For fiberglass or lightweight concrete planters, which require molds, the MOQ is often 100–150 units. For powder-coated metal or laser-cut steel, we can accommodate as low as 50 units if the design is straightforward. UV-resistant plastic planters via injection molding have a higher MOQ (500+ units) due to mold investment, but we offer CNC-routed plywood options with an MOQ of just 30–50 units for prototyping.
Third, production timeline and seasonal demand can influence flexibility. During our slow season (January–March), we may accept orders as low as 50 units for custom sizes. In peak season (April–July), the standard MOQ applies to maintain efficiency.
We also provide a split-order option: you can order a minimum of 50 units for a test run, then scale up with no additional tooling fees for subsequent orders of the same design. This is ideal for startups or businesses testing new markets.
For large wholesale orders (500+ units), the per-unit price drops significantly, and we often waive the MOQ entirely for repeat customers. If your required custom size is close to a standard size we already produce, we may also allow a reduced MOQ of 30 units by modifying an existing mold.
