This ensures that the top rim of the trash can sits at approximately 950 mm, which aligns with the average adult hip height. This positioning allows users to drop waste without bending or stretching, reducing discomfort and promoting proper disposal.
However, the exact height can vary based on three key factors:
- Bracket type: Hook-style brackets support the bin’s lip, so the bracket height must equal the bin’s total height minus the lip depth. For a standard 120-liter bin with a height of 950 mm and a lip depth of 30 mm, the bracket top should be at 920 mm to keep the bin stable.
- Bin capacity: Larger bins (240 liters) are taller and heavier. If mounted too high, they become difficult to remove. The factory standard lower edge clearance is 300 mm from the ground, preventing debris accumulation and making cleaning easier.
- Accessibility compliance: In public spaces, many municipalities require a clear floor space and an operable height between 400 mm and 1,200 mm for wheelchair users. Our standard 1,000 mm top-edge height falls safely within this range.
From a factory perspective, we also engineer brackets to allow a 5-degree backward tilt of the bin. This slight tilt keeps the lid from opening fully due to wind, without compromising the ergonomic reach height.
