Most of our benches feature either a powder-coated aluminum frame, a natural teak wood seat, or a durable marine-grade paint finish. Each material has its own care protocol, but a few universal habits will go a long way.

For powder-coated aluminum, simply wipe the surface with a soft cloth, mild dish soap, and lukewarm water every two to four weeks. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners, as they can scratch the coating and reduce its UV resistance. After rinsing, dry the bench with a microfiber towel to prevent water spots. A thin layer of automotive-grade carnauba wax applied twice a year will add a protective barrier against dirt, salt, and oxidation.

If your bench features teak wood, the natural oils are what keep it rich and golden-brown. Clean it with a dedicated teak cleaner and a soft brush, following the grain direction. Once or twice per season, apply a high-quality teak sealer or teak oil to replenish the finish. Do not use pressure washers, as they can embed grit and roughen the fibers. If you prefer a silver-gray patina, simply stop oiling and let the wood age naturally.

For painted steel benches, inspect for chips or scratches every few months. Touch up any bare spots immediately with matching outdoor enamel paint to prevent rust from creeping under the finish. Wash with a gentle pH-neutral soap and a sponge, then rinse thoroughly. In coastal areas with salty air, rinse the bench more frequently to minimize corrosion.

Finally, consider the environment. During harsh winter months or intense summer storms, use a breathable waterproof cover or move the bench to a shaded, dry location. Reducing direct exposure to extreme weather will dramatically slow down finish degradation. With these simple yet consistent steps, your outdoor bench will maintain its like-new appearance season after season, preserving both its beauty and structural integrity.
