Great question — and it’s one we hear from almost every customer before placing an order. From our planter box factory, we ship all products in a flat-pack format, not fully assembled.

Why flat-pack? It’s a deliberate choice that benefits you in three key ways. First, shipping costs drop significantly because flat-packed boxes take up far less volume, meaning we can pass those savings directly to you. Second, a compact package reduces the risk of damage during transit; no pre-assembled corners or joints are stressed in a truck. Third, flat-packing allows us to use stronger, thicker timber without increasing freight weight beyond reasonable limits — so the final product is actually sturdier once you lock it together.

Each flat-pack includes precision-cut boards, pre-drilled pilot holes, stainless steel screws, and a step-by-step assembly guide that requires no specialized tools. Most customers complete a standard planter box in under 30 minutes. The joints are engineered to align perfectly, so the end result feels just as solid as any fully assembled unit — and because you tighten the fasteners yourself, you can periodically re-tighten them over the years, extending the life of your planter.

We also offer an optional “white-glove assembly service” in select regions, but that service is arranged through vetted local contractors, not through our factory shipping line. If you choose that, the flat-pack is delivered to your door, and the contractor assembles it on site.
