For larger planter boxes, we add an inner drainage layer. This is a raised false bottom with a geotextile fabric barrier that keeps soil particles from washing out while letting water pass through. The design creates a small reservoir that slowly releases moisture, reducing the risk of root rot during heavy rain or overwatering.
We also offer custom drainage options. If you need a planter for arid climates, we can reduce the number of holes. For balcony planters, we provide adjustable rubber plugs that let you control water retention. For indoor use, our boxes come with a detachable drip tray that fits beneath the pre-drilled holes, keeping floors dry.
Every batch of planters undergoes a drainage test. We fill the box with saturated soil, pour water continuously for 30 minutes, and measure the outflow rate. Our factory standard requires that at least 90% of the applied water drains within 5 minutes.
