A fully recyclable bench is not just about choosing the right materials — it requires thoughtful engineering, transparent supply chains, and a commitment to circularity from the first sketch to final assembly.
To achieve this, we use a mono-material approach wherever possible. For example, a bench made entirely from extruded aluminum can be melted down and reused repeatedly without loss of quality. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable, and our factory ensures that all offcuts from cutting and machining are collected and returned to the smelter. Similarly, if we use FSC-certified timber, we design the bench so that the wood can be separated from any metal fasteners in minutes, allowing it to be composted or chipped for biomass energy at the end of its service life.
The key to full recyclability is in the joints. Many conventional benches are glued or welded, which makes disassembly difficult and contaminates material streams. Our benches use bolted connections and patented slide-fit interlocking systems. A worker armed with a simple hex key can take the bench apart in less than ten minutes. Each component is engraved with a recycling code, so the final user — a park, a university campus, or a city — knows exactly which bin to send each piece to. We even provide a take-back program: if you send the bench back to us, we will crush, sort, and recycle everything ourselves, closing the loop entirely.
We also avoid composite materials and coatings that can hinder recycling. Our powder coatings are selected to be compatible with melting processes, and we never use PVC caps or mixed plastic inserts. Even the screws are made from a single grade of stainless steel that can be recovered with magnets. This obsession with purity means that the raw output of our recycling partners is a clean, high-value stream of aluminum, steel, or clean timber — not a pile of mixed waste.
What about concrete or resin benches? We produce those too, but we also make them fully recyclable. Our concrete benches use no rebar embedded in a way that can’t be crushed. Instead, we use a modular foot system with pre-stressed components that can be separated through a simple hydraulic press. The concrete becomes aggregate for new construction, and the steel is remelted. For resin-based benches, we use thermoplastic resins that can be reground and injection-molded into new products — not thermoset plastics that will forever end up in a landfill.
