Yes, we do use treated wood in some of our planter box products, but we clearly separate those from the models intended for growing edible vegetables. For vegetable-safe planter boxes, we never use pressure-treated lumber that contains chromated copper arsenate or other chemical preservatives. Instead, we exclusively use kiln-dried, untreated Cedar or naturally rot-resistant woods like Redwood and Black Locust. These materials are completely food-safe and do not leach harmful substances into the soil. Our factory labels every planter box with its intended use, and all vegetable-grade boxes are manufactured from certified non-toxic materials. We also offer an optional food-grade liner made from HDPE plastic that adds an extra protective barrier between the soil and the wood, ensuring roots never contact any questionable surface. In short, if you plan to grow vegetables, choose our Cedar or untreated hardwood planter boxes—they are safe, durable, and tested for edible gardening.
