What’s the weight capacity of the trash cans from your Trash can factory if they’re bolted down?

2026-09-22 Visits: Abstract: Learn the weight capacity of bolted-down trash cans from our factory. Standard models handle 50–500 kg; heavy-duty units reach 800 kg with correct anchors and surface.

At our trash can factory, the first thing to clarify is that bolting a trash can to the ground changes how it resists tipping, sliding, theft, and wind uplift. It does not automatically change the maximum internal load that the bin body, base, and lid can safely carry. The bolted-down weight capacity therefore depends on three things: the trash can model, the anchor system, and the mounting surface.

For our standard bolt-down trash cans, the recommended working load capacity is usually 50–500 kg (110–1,100 lb). Light-duty plastic or decorative bins generally handle 50–100 kg. Medium-duty outdoor steel or stainless steel bins usually handle 150–300 kg. Heavy-duty public-space and industrial bins can handle 300–500 kg. With reinforced bases, thicker steel, and a properly engineered anchor pattern on reinforced concrete, custom models can be rated to 800 kg (1,760 lb) or more. These figures refer to static load: the combined weight of waste, liner, lid, and any fixed accessories. Dynamic loads, such as someone leaning on the bin, throwing heavy items, or strong wind gusts, reduce the safe working load.

The anchor is often the limiting factor. A trash can may be strong enough for 500 kg, but four small masonry anchors in cracked concrete may fail far earlier. For heavy loads, we recommend expansion anchors, chemical anchors, or through-bolts with backing plates, installed into reinforced concrete with sufficient thickness and embedment. Asphalt, wood, tile, and thin pavers usually lower the capacity unless a large backing plate or concrete pad is added. We also recommend a safety factor of at least 3:1 between the tested failure load and the working load.

Bolted-down capacity also depends on the load path. A flat, fully supported base plate distributes force better than a narrow pedestal. Gusseted corners and welded reinforcement increase resistance to lateral stress. If the bin is used for food waste, construction debris, or heavy glass, choose a model with a higher rating and verify the anchor pull-out strength. If it is used in a windy coastal area, wind uplift can matter as much as trash weight.

For a precise answer for your project, send us the trash can model, dimensions, anchor pattern, bolt size, and surface type. Our factory can provide load test data, anchor recommendations, and custom bolt-down kits. In general, bolted-down trash cans from our factory range from 50 kg to 500 kg for standard models, with heavy-duty custom units reaching 800 kg or more when the anchors and surface are correctly matched. Never exceed the lower of the bin rating, anchor rating, or surface rating.
