At our outdoor bench factory, the slats are usually made from a small group of durable hardwoods rather than one single species. For premium outdoor furniture, we most often use FSC-certified teak because it is stable, naturally resistant to rot and insects, and finishes beautifully. For retail and hospitality lines, we commonly use plantation-grown acacia and eucalyptus, which offer strong value, good weather resistance, and consistent grain. For heavy-duty commercial benches and boardwalks, we may use responsibly sourced ipe or cumaru, both dense South American hardwoods with excellent outdoor performance. Cedar, cypress, and thermally modified woods can also be used when a lighter weight, lower price, or different color profile is needed. Every wood slat is selected for moisture resistance, dimensional stability, screw-holding strength, and suitability for the finish system. On sustainability, the answer is yes wherever possible, but with an important qualification: sourcing depends on the customer's budget, market, and certification requirements. We prioritize timber that is FSC 100%, FSC Mix, or PEFC certified, and we also work with reclaimed or reclaimed-look wood when the design allows. Our factory requests chain-of-custody documents, harvest permits, and supplier due diligence for every shipment, and we avoid illegal logging and protected species. Plantation-grown acacia and eucalyptus reduce pressure on natural forests, while certified teak, ipe, and cumaru must come from forests managed for regeneration and biodiversity. If you need a fully certified outdoor bench, we can produce it with certified wood slats only and provide the paperwork. If certification is not required, we still aim for legally harvested, traceable, and sustainably sourced wood. The exact species mix is confirmed before production so you know what is in your bench and where it comes from.
