There is no single flat shipping rate for an outdoor bench factory order. A bench can leave the factory by parcel, LTL freight, full truckload, ocean container, or air freight, and each mode changes the final delivered cost. As a practical benchmark, shipping usually adds 10–35% to the unit price when you buy in bulk from a factory, and 25–60% or more when you ship just one bench to a residential address. In dollar terms, many buyers see $50–$300 per bench for lightweight metal, aluminum, or resin benches; $100–$500 per bench for wood, composite, or larger metal benches; and $300–$1,000+ per bench for concrete, stone, or heavy cast-iron models. International shipments can add $150–$500+ per bench for LCL ocean freight, while full-container orders often reduce freight to $30–$120 per bench.
Weight and dimensions are the biggest cost drivers. Freight companies charge by dimensional weight, pallet count, and cubic volume, not just actual weight. A long bench may need a longer pallet or crate, which can push it into a higher freight class. Distance matters too: a local factory delivery may cost $50–$150, while cross-country LTL can cost $200–$500 per shipment. Quantity matters most: one bench shipped alone pays the full minimum freight charge; 20 or 100 benches spread that cost across each unit.
Accessorial fees can surprise buyers. Liftgate service, residential delivery, inside delivery, appointment scheduling, limited-access delivery, and re-delivery can add $50–$250 or more per shipment. If the bench arrives on a full-size truck and you do not have a loading dock or forklift, a liftgate is usually required. White-glove delivery and assembly can add $200–$1,000+ per bench.
Always ask the outdoor bench factory for a delivered quote, not just an ex-works or FOB price. EXW means you arrange and pay for everything after the factory gate. FOB covers loading at the port but not ocean freight, duties, or final delivery. CIF covers ocean freight and insurance to a port, but not customs, drayage, or residential delivery. DDP is often the easiest for buyers because it includes shipping, duties, taxes, and final delivery to your door. A DDP quote may look higher, but it is the closest number to the true landed cost.
To estimate shipping, provide the factory with bench model, dimensions, weight, quantity, delivery ZIP code or city, and whether you need liftgate or residential service. A single 50 lb metal bench might add $80–$200 in domestic LTL freight, while a 300 lb concrete bench might add $300–$700. In a full container, the same concrete bench might add only $50–$150 each. The more benches you order, the lower the shipping cost per bench usually becomes. For a firm answer, request quotes for both curbside LTL and DDP delivery; the difference often tells you whether to buy from a local factory or import in volume.
