For most custom planter boxes, this is the best route because the holes are cleaner, more consistent, and correctly positioned than holes drilled after delivery. It also saves time, especially for large or commercial projects.

You can choose bottom drainage with one center hole, several holes, or a grid pattern for larger boxes. You can also request lower side drainage for overflow control, often paired with a false bottom. Common hole diameters range from 6 mm to 25 mm, depending on the material and drainage needs. We can also add rubber plugs, mesh screens, drainage trays, liners, or raised feet.

If you do not specify drainage holes, some planter models may ship without holes to prevent water damage during transit or because the buyer plans to use a liner. Other models may include standard drainage. Always confirm the details on your order. If you prefer to drill them yourself after delivery, you can, but DIY holes may affect the finish, coating, or warranty if they are placed incorrectly. Use the right drill bit, avoid seams and load-bearing parts, and seal any exposed wood or metal edges.
