When you order custom-engraved benches from our outdoor bench factory, engraving usually adds 3 to 7 business days to the standard lead time. Simple names, dates, short messages, or a single small logo often need only 2 to 4 extra business days after artwork approval. Larger text blocks, detailed logos, multiple bench locations, or orders of 25 benches and above commonly add 7 to 12 business days. Complex artwork, custom fonts, deep carving, or mixed materials can add 10 to 15 business days because we need extra proofing, setup, and quality checks.
Standard outdoor bench production generally runs about 4 to 6 weeks, depending on material, finish, quantity, and season. Engraving does not always add its full timeline to the end of production. In many cases, our factory can engrave approved components while the rest of the order is still being welded, assembled, sanded, or finished. That overlap can reduce the visible delay, especially for mixed orders. However, some finishes change the sequence. Powder coating, staining, sealing, and marine-grade topcoats may require engraving before or after a specific curing stage. Laser engraving often works well after coating, while CNC routing or sandblasting may happen before final assembly and sealing. Each choice affects the calendar.
The main factors that influence the added engraving lead time are:
- Artwork readiness: Vector files, high-contrast logos, and typed text move fastest. Low-resolution images or unclear handwriting require cleanup and add 1 to 3 business days.
- Engraving method: Laser engraving is usually quick for fine detail. CNC routing is durable and precise but needs tooling setup. Sandblasting creates a deep outdoor-friendly finish but can take longer. Hand carving is the slowest and most variable.
- Quantity: One sample bench may take 2 to 5 business days. A batch of 20 to 50 benches can take 7 to 15 business days, depending on layout and repetition.
- Material and finish: Wood, composite, concrete, aluminum, and steel behave differently. Hard coatings and textured surfaces may need test engraving before full production.
- Proof approval: If you request a digital proof, physical sample, or font match, add 1 to 5 business days. Delayed approval pauses the engraving schedule.
- Season and shipping: Holiday peaks, material shortages, and shipping congestion can extend both production and engraving.
To get an exact answer, send the bench model, engraving text or logo, placement details, material, finish, quantity, and target delivery date. We will confirm the normal production schedule and the engraving buffer in writing. In most standard projects, plan for at least one extra week for custom engraving. For complex designs, multiple locations, or high-volume orders, plan for two extra weeks. If your deadline is tight, ask about rush engraving, simplified artwork, or producing plain benches first and adding engraved plaques or panels later. This can keep your project moving while still giving you a custom outdoor bench factory result.
