How long does it take for a custom prototype from your outdoor bench factory before mass production?

2026-10-21 Visits: Abstract: Custom outdoor bench prototypes typically take 3–6 weeks before mass production, depending on design complexity, materials, finishes, and approval rounds.

At our outdoor bench factory, a custom prototype usually moves from a confirmed design to an approved pre-production sample in about 3 to 6 weeks. A straightforward bench using standard wood or metal profiles may be completed in 3 to 4 weeks. A more complex design with mixed materials, custom curves, special finishes, or integrated features often takes 6 to 10 weeks.

The timeline breaks down into clear stages. After receiving your concept, we review dimensions, materials, load requirements, and installation conditions within 2–5 business days. Technical drawings and a bill of materials usually take another 3–7 days. Material sourcing adds 3–10 days, depending on whether we use stock profiles or order special timber, powder-coat colors, or hardware. Fabrication—including cutting, welding, woodworking, and assembly—generally requires 7–15 days. Surface finishing, such as powder coating, staining, or oiling, adds 3–7 days, followed by 2–4 days for inspection and packaging.

Client approval is the most variable part. We send photos, dimensional reports, and finish samples so you can review the prototype. If changes are needed, allow 3–10 extra days for revision and re-inspection. We do not begin mass production until you approve the prototype and sign off the final specifications. For urgent projects with simple designs and available materials, we can sometimes shorten the prototype stage to 2–3 weeks, but we recommend keeping a realistic buffer for testing and approval. The final schedule is confirmed after we review your drawings, target quantity, and delivery date.
