Yes—both options are available, and the choice depends on whether you are ordering a standard model or a customized planter box. On our standard production lines, drainage holes are pre-drilled by default. The hole count, diameter, and placement follow the approved specification for that model, so most wholesale and retail buyers do not need to submit a separate request. If you prefer planters without drainage—for example, for decorative indoor use or a liner-based system—you can ask us to omit the holes when confirming your order.
For custom planter boxes, drainage is handled as part of the specification process rather than as an afterthought. At the quotation stage, tell us how the planter will be used, what plants or irrigation system it will hold, and whether you need optional rubber plugs, drip trays, or inner liners. We can then recommend a drainage layout and confirm details such as hole size, quantity, spacing, and distance from the base. When customization is required, please request it before production begins and approve the drawing or specification sheet. This prevents delays and ensures the factory drills precisely to your requirements.
Once the specification is confirmed, our production team drills the holes using controlled equipment, removes sharp edges, and checks the placement against the approved sample or drawing. For orders with special requirements, we can also add reinforcement, filter mesh, or compatible accessories where appropriate. Clear communication at the order-confirmation stage is the key: standard models arrive pre-drilled, while non-standard drainage layouts must be requested and approved in advance.
So, to answer directly: you do not need to request drainage holes for our standard pre-drilled planter boxes. You do need to request changes if you want a custom hole pattern, no holes, larger or smaller openings, or additional drainage accessories. Share your requirements with our sales team before production, and we will confirm the best solution for your project.
