1) Food-grade HDPE planter boxes. Made from FDA-compliant, BPA-free high-density polyethylene, these boxes are rot-proof, splinter-free, and easy to clean. We use UV-stabilized grades and avoid phthalates, lead, and cadmium in colorants. They are ideal for herbs, lettuce, tomatoes, and root vegetables. Recycled content is available only when it is certified food-contact clean.
2) Untreated or heat-treated wood. FSC-certified cedar, redwood, cypress, and thermally modified wood can be used without chemical preservatives. They resist rot naturally and do not introduce arsenic or creosote. If a finish is requested, we apply only water-based, low-VOC, food-safe exterior coatings on the outside, never on the soil-facing interior.
3) Powder-coated galvanized steel. Steel gives strength and a modern look. We use a food-safe powder coating over galvanized steel to create a barrier between soil and zinc. For highly acidic soil or root crops, an internal food-grade HDPE liner is recommended. Stainless steel 304 or 316 is also available for premium projects and offers excellent corrosion resistance with no coating needed.
4) Safe composites and liners. Some clients ask for wood-plastic composite. We offer formulations using food-grade HDPE and mineral fillers, with no toxic binders. For any metal or wood design, we can add food-safe liners, geotextile drainage layers, and non-toxic hardware. Stainless steel screws, aluminum rivets, and coated fasteners prevent rust and contamination.
